The San Marcos Runners Club (SMRC) is a group of local area runners of various levels of ability and experience. Some of our members qualify for the Boston Marathon each year, while others enjoy walking their miles at a more relaxed pace. Whether training or competing in races, we like to have fun and we support each other and our local running community.
Our mission is to promote running, fitness and healthy lifestyles in San Marcos and Central Texas, and to provide information, encouragement and training resources for people of all ages and abilities who are interested in running or fitness in general. Read our By-Laws here.
Come out and have fun and run with us, or better yet, join us and become a member! Have any questions? Find out more, drop us a line, check us out on social media.
A little history:
The SMRC – which has existed for many decades – was reorganized in February, 2001, after being inactive for several years. The reorganization occurred primarily because of the efforts of Dr. Moe Johnson, who is a fixture in the San Marcos running community. Moe was a founding member of the original club, and felt that there was a large enough group of runners in the area to justify re-starting the club’s meetings and activities. So, after some organizational meetings, we decided to “take a run” at having a runners’ club in San Marcos again. We have been running together ever since.
